Michael Oatney gave me this eight in 2023.
Version A is welded from 3/8" (9.5 mm.) stainless steel rod. It is 158 mm. tall, 130 mm. wide, and 10 mm. thick. The rope hole is 61 mm. high and 62 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 9 mm. The shaft length and width are 10 mm. and 43 mm., respectively. The eye measures 69 mm. by 32 mm. The ears are 23 mm. long. MTHis eight weighs 264 g.
This is another welded steel eights with ears. Mike designed it and had it made at a local welding shop. It is essentially an eared version of his deaf eight.
This eight will last forever and not corrode, but it is too heavy for my taste.

Version B is welded from 3/8" (9.5 mm.) stainless steel rod. It is 182 mm. tall, 20 mm. wide, and 124 mm. thick. The rope hole is 85 mm. high and 58 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 19 mm. The shaft length and width are 21 mm. and 13 mm., respectively. The eye measures 59 mm. by 34 mm. The ears average 20 mm. long. Version B weighs 333 g.
This is another welded steel eights with ears. Mike designed it and had it made at a local welding shop. It has an interesting shape with the rod crossing itself. Without ears, it would facilitate girth-hitching, much like the Liken eight was designed to do. I see no advantage to this arrangement.
This eight will last forever and not corrode, but it is too heavy for my taste.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
