The Emery eights are interesting articulated eight. I don't see why the articulation is needed. The Kong De-Jump and the Frendo eights were made for canyoneering, and I can see that they would be quite useful in that situation, where dropping one’s rappel device is both easy and inconvenient. The Young Manufacturing Rescue Safe Eights are well-made devices that provide an innovative alternative to the Figure Eights With Ears, addressing something that I don't view as a problem in my world, but apparently concerns many people in theirs.
Complex eights are heavier than the average standard eight, but lighter than many other eights.
