I acquired this eight on eBay from Colin Ware in 2024.
The Aircraft Materials Ltd. (AML), Version A isorged from aluminum alloy. Mine is 175 mm. tall, 124 mm. wide, and 12 mm. thick. The rope hole is 57 mm. high and 57 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 12 mm. The shaft length and width are 62 mm. and 29 mm., respectively. The eye measures 3 mm. by 23 mm. The ears are 17.7 mm. long. My Aircraft Materials Ltd. (AML), Version A weighs 232 g.
The front of the shaft is stamped with "AIRCRAFT MATERIALS LTD," "AML 13133," and the AML logo.
The Aircraft Materials Ltd. is somewhat larger than a typical full size figure eight with ears, but it is not as large as the typical rescue eight.
The AML eight is somewhat long and chunky-looking. I have little doubt that it was designed for great strength, as if that provides value; the down side is that the eight weighs more than it needs to
The ears are smaller than on some rescue eights and they do not have a hook to them. Following common practice, the ears are placed too high on the eight. The eye is too narrow to accept two full size locking carabiners.

I acquired this eight from an undisclosed eBay seller in 2004.
The Aircraft Materials Ltd. is milled from aluminum alloy plate then soft anodized. Mine is 173 mm. tall, 122 mm. wide, and 13 mm. thick. The rope hole is 57 mm. high and 57 mm wide. The top center thickness is 12 mm. The shaft length and width are 62 mm. and 29 mm., respectively. The eye measures 23 mm. by 23 mm. The ears are 17 mm. long. My Aircraft Materials Ltd. eight weighs 231 g.
The front of the shaft has "AIRCRAFT MATERIALS LTD," "AML 13133," and the AML logo stamped in dot matrix format. The rear has " A4/8465-99-138-3895," also stamped in dot matrix characters.
The gray coating is fairly soft, but with an eight this massive, there is plenty of thickness to accommodate some wear.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
