I acquired my Sterling SR R8 on eBay from Outdoor Play Inc. in 2019, and a second from Zoro.Com in 2021, again on eBay.
The Sterling SR R8 is milled from aluminum alloy plate and then hard anodized. Mine is 151 mm. tall, 159 mm. wide, and 12 mm. thick. The rope hole is 58 mm. high and 68 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 12 mm. The shaft length and width are 30 mm. and 46 mm., respectively. The eye measures 38 mm. by 25 mm. The ears are 31.2 mm. long. My Sterling SR R8 weighs 179 g.
The front of the SR R8 is printed with a logo, "STERLING®," and a book-with-an-"i" icon. The rear is printed with "SR R8" between two horizontal lines, "22kN," "U.S.A.," and "19084N0007."
The Sterling SR R8 is a full size figure eight with ears.
The rear of the shaft is milled out to reduce weight. Like many eared eights, I find the large ears to be unnecessary and their location only makes the eight too large for routine caving and climbing.
