Technical Details

I acquired one Yoke N506 from KwikSPACE Safety in 2012 and a second from John Conley in 2024.

The Yoke N506 is forged from aluminum alloy and then clear anodized. Mine is 171 mm. tall, 152 mm. wide, and 16 mm. thick. The rope hole is 60 mm. high and 79 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 13 mm. The shaft length and width are 66 mm. and 42 mm., respectively. The auxiliary hole is 15.3 mm. high and 22.2 mm. wide. The eye measures 2 mm. by 33 mm. The ears are 20 mm. long. My Yoke N506 weighs 258 g.

For the first one, the front of the shaft is etched with "YOKE," "N506," and "RWN" and the rear is etched with "FORGED," "10000LBS," "40 kN," and "M.B.S." The second one substitutes "XWC" for "RWN" on the front and "9000LBS for "10000LBS" on the rear.

Comments

The Yoke N506 is a typical example of a forged aluminum rescue eight.

The Yoke N506 is too large and too heavy for my taste.

The two breaking strengths engraved on the shaft of the first one disagree. 10,000 lbf is about 44 kN, and 40 kN is about 9000 lbf. The second one corrects the error.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
