I acquired this eight from John E. Weinel, Inc. in 1991.
The Rock & Rescue eight is milled from aluminum alloy plate and then soft anodized. Mine is 174 mm. tall, 169 mm wide, and 13 mm. thick. The rope hole is 75 mm. high and 75 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 13 mm. The shaft length and width are 54 mm. and 44 mm., respectively. The auxiliary hole is 19 mm. high and 19 mm. wide. The eye measures 21 mm. by 30 mm. The ears are 34.3 mm long. My Rock & Rescue eight weighs 231 g.
There are no markings on this eight.
The Rock & Rescue eight is a typical example of a milled aluminum rescue eight. Like all rescue eights, this one is too large and heavy for my taste. It could have been more versatile if the auxiliary hole had been replaced by a belay slot. I also think that the ears are much longer than they need to be - and of course they are in the wrong place, like "everyone" else’s.
The Rock & Rescue eight is virtually identical to the Advanced Base Camp eight that I acquired in 2008.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
