I acquired my Grivel 2x8 from Stéphane Pennequin in 2012.
The Grivel 2x8 is forged from aluminum alloy and then soft anodized. Mine is 100 mm. tall, 72 mm. wide, and 15 mm. thick. The rope hole is 35 mm. high and 49 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 7 mm. The shaft length and width are 30 mm. and 21 mm., respectively. The eye measures 18 mm. by 32 mm. My eight weighs 61 g.
The top of the eight has six 3 mm. holes on each side, and the eye has three on each side and three more on the base.
The convex side of the shaft has the Grivel logo and "GRIVEL" in raised letters. The concave side is printed with "prEN 15151-2:2010." "2 X 8," a book-with-an-"i" icon, "00969," and "07 11’"
The Grivel 2x8 is an unusual odd-shaped, bent figure eight.
The Grivel 2x8 is lighter than most figure eights; in fact, it is almost tiny. The rope hole is shorter than normal, so it may provide too much friction on stiff or muddy ropes. The cooling holes do not seem to be too effective, since they barely increase the surface area of the eight.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
