I acquired my Rock Exotica from Devereaux Cousins in 2011.
The Rock Exotica is forged from aluminum alloy and then soft anodized. Mine is 143 mm. tall, 74 mm. wide, and 12 mm. thick. The rope hole is 50 mm. high and 50 mm. wide. The top center thickness is 12 mm. The shaft length and width are 44 mm. and 26 mm., respectively. The eye measures 25 mm. by 25 mm. My eight weighs 116 g.
One side is faintly etched with "rock exotica," "22 kN, and "10012M0004."
The Rock Exotica is another of a full size, milled aluminum plate eight. It reminds me of the long-discontinued Russ Anderson Version C. While the Russ Anderson had semicircular edges, the Rock Exotica cross section is a round-cornered square or rectangle.
This is a nice eight. I'm glad to see an eight on the market again with the handy belay slot. Although many people belay with an eight in "eight mode," I prefer the additional friction and automatic locking assist provided by a properly-sized belay slot. The (minor) side benefit is that the slot reduces weight.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
