Technical Details

I acquired my Climbing Technology Easy Move, Version A from Expé-Spelemat in 2014.

Version A is 81 mm. long, 69 mm. wide, 24 mm. high, and weighs 202 g. It consists of 3 mm. aluminum front and back plates and several internal parts. There is a forged steel rocker lever on the left. This lever pivots on an 8 mm. post riveted to the rear plate, and the front plate pivots on the post, swinging counter-clockwise to open.In the closed position, a notch on the right side of the front plate engages the end of the pin supporting the anvil. A pin limits the motion of the rocker lever. Opposite the lower end of the lever is a fixed forged steel anvil, held in place by another pair of pins.

There is another pin on the rear plate that supports another lever. One end of this lever rides against the rope, while the other has a hook extending into the rear plate attachment eye. A spring acts to rotate the second lever clockwise, pressing the left end against the rope. A plastic knob in a housing attached to the lever allows blocking the lever movement. A post above the lever supports a friction-educing roller.

The front is stamped with "EASY MOVE" and a rigging illustration. It is printed with "0212," "0065-106-14," the CT logo, "climbing technology," and a double ended curved arrow with "REST" at one end and "GO" at the other. The inside of the rear plate is stamped with a rope hanging from a ceiling and an up-pointing arrow. The rear is stamped with "EN 12841:2006 A/B," "ROPE TypeA10.5≤Ø≤11," "EN353-2:2002," "USE ONLY ROPE Ø11," "EN 358:1999," a "Reading-Is-Dangerous" icon, "CE 0333," and "Made in Italy."

Comments

Climbing Technology makes the Safewaze Easy Move for American markets. That version is labeled with U. S. rather than European standards. There are quite a number of other miscellaneous ascenders and rocker-type rope grabs that are vaguely similar, but the Camp Goblin is arguably the closest match.

Comments

I ordered this hastily, forgetting that I already had Version A. Fortunately, the two were not identical.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
