I acquired my Chouinard 11 from Skinny Skis in 1980.
This Chouinard 11 is 47 mm. tall, 22 mm. wide, 11 mm. thick, and weighs 13 g. It has one slot that is 31 mm. long.
One side is stamped with the Chouinard logo and "USA."
I don't take the Chouinard 11 seriously. There is not enough
metal to allow any significant wear, and there is no hard coating
to prevent the device from wearing quickly. At least the the CMI Micro is hard coated. The Chouinard
11 is too small to grip while in use, and it has little heat absorption
capacity. I give this one the lemon award.

I acquired my Chouinard Double 9 from Mike Adams in 2005.
This Chouinard Double 9 is 44 mm. tall, 33 mm. wide, 12 mm. thick, and weighs 20 g. It has two slots that are 27 mm. long.
One side is stamped with the Chouinard logo and "USA."
Functionally, the Double 9 is a fairly standard "Sticht" type belay device. Although smaller than most, it is large enough to handle, and has some margin for wear at each end. Being so small, it has little heat absorption capacity. The REI 11/11, made for 11 mm. ropes, is similar but larger.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
