I acquired my PBI, Version A from Arthur W. McCarthy in 2020.
This version is milled out of 1/4-inch (6.4 mm.) aluminum. Mine is 39 mm. long, 68 mm. wide, and weighs 34 g. It has one slot that is 33 mm. long.
One side is stamped with "PBI" inside an ellipse.
The PBI plate has very little rope contact area, which is a bit harder on the rope than a thicker device would be. This is not a significant concern.

I acquired this PBI plate from International Mountaineering around 1979. I acquired another from Bruce D. Vinkemulder in 2022.
This version is milled out of 1/4-inch (6.4 mm.) aluminum and then anodized. It is 38 mm. long, 68 mm. wide, and weighs 28 g. It has one slot that is 33 mm. long.
One side is stamped with "PBI" inside an ellipse.
This version is anodized, which improves the aesthetics. There is no significant functional difference.
