I acquired my SARA plate from Eastern Mountain Sports in 1979.
The SARA is stamped from a pear-shaped 7.8 mm. aluminum alloy plate. The large hole is 44.8 mm. in diameter and the eye is 23.8 mmn wide and 20 mm. high. My SARA is 27 mm. long, 93 mm. wide, 6 mm. high, and weighs 44 g.
Both sides are marked with "SARARESCUEPRODUCTS" and "SIMA VALLEY CA 93063."
The SARA came without instructions. I presume that it was intended to be used in a free running or Munter belay configuration similar to those given for the Yates Belay Slave.
