Simple Buttonhole

Simple ButtonholeFranz Bachmann’s Simple Buttonhole knot is single strand variation of the Buttonhole. It is also a self-tightening version of the Helical. The knot grips well and slides easily. If the user leaves the figure eight tied between uses, then tying the Buttonhole is simple - just count to get the desired number of wraps. The bulky figure eight loop interferes with the knot’s operation to some extent, but this isn't critical.

The Buttonhole is a related knot tied with a sling loop.

Note:
The performance of any ascending knot depends on the diameter, material, construction, and condition of both the main line and the ascender knot sling material. It may also depend on exactly how one ties the knot. Your knot’s performance can easily differ from mine.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
