Technical Details

I acquired this rack from Speleobooks at the 1996 NSS Convention.

My Speleobooks Key Chain Rack is 74 mm. tall, 25 mm. wide, 5 mm. thick, and weighs 37 g. The frame is made from 5 mm. stainless steel bent into a U, with an internal width of 12 mm. There are five tubular stainless steel brake bars. The bars are 8 mm. in diameter and 25 mm. long. Two stainless steel acorn nuts hold th bars in place. The cord and split ring shown in the picture came with the rack.

There are no markings on this rack.

Comments

This rack is designed as a key chain ornament only, and is not suitable, nor safe, for rappelling. If someone were fool enough to try it, they would find that it works reasonably well on thin accessory cord, provided the rope is fed back through the device in the same manner as the BMS Pico-Rack rigging. I won't use this device… again.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
