Technical Details

I acquired this rack from Inner Mountain Outfitters at the 1987 NSS Convention.

Version A is 205 mm. tall, 48 mm. wide, 22 mm. thick, and weighs 287 g. The frame is made from 7 mm. stainless steel bent into a U, with an internal width of 27 mm. There are four solid, 49 mm. long, aluminum alloy brake bars. The top two bars are 22 mm. in diameter and have dimples to keep the rope centered. The lower two bars are 20 mm. in diameter. Threaded and pinned stainless steel posts secure the bars.

There are no markings on this rack.

Comments

Version A is a basic rack with aluminum brake bars. Since the top two bars bars receive more heat, they are larger than the other two.

Allowing 35 mm. for the rope leaves 52 mm. for spreading the bars.

Version B is 205 mm. tall, 48 mm. wide, 22 mm. thick, and weighs 289 g. The frame is made from 7 mm. stainless steel bent into a U, with an internal width of 27 mm. There are four solid, 48 mm. long, aluminum alloy brake bars. The top two bars are 22 mm. in diameter and have dimples to keep the rope centered. The lower two bars are 20 mm. in diameter. Bars 2 and 4 are anodized orange. Threaded and pinned stainless steel posts secure the bars.

The top bar is stamped "KONG-BONAITI-ITALY."

Technical Details

I acquired this rack from Amplatz Sport in 2009.

My Rackong is 205 mm. tall, 82 mm. wide, 22 mm. thick, and weighs 329 g. The frame is made from 7 mm. stainless steel bent into a U, with an internal width of 27 mm. There are four solid anodized aluminum alloy brake bars. The top bars is an 82 mm. long, 22 mm. diameter single hyperbar, with a simple roll pin serving as the retaining pin. The remaining three bars are 48 mm. long, 20 mm. diameter standard bars. The second bar has a shallow rope groove. Bars two and four are slotted, one and three are not. Threaded and pinned stainless steel posts secure the bars. Allowing 35 mm. for the rope leaves 52 mm. for spreading the bars.

The top bar is printed with "01006174." The third bar is printed "KONG," "Bonaiti," and "ITALY PAT."

Comments

The Rackong follows the hyperbar craze, and for a small U-frame rack such as this, the hyperbar is welcome, despite its bulk. The Rackong is nicely made, but somewhat difficult to obtain in the USA.

Allowing 35 mm. for the rope leaves 52 mm. for spreading the bars.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
