I acquired this rack from Gold Bucket in 2014.
My SOB rack is 284 mm. tall, 82 mm. wide, 23 mm. thick, and weighs 509 g. The frame is made from 9.0 mm. stainless steel bent into a C, with an internal width of 28 mm. A second length of 9 mm. is bolted across the opening. There are four standard bars and a single-sided hyperbar at the bottom. Allowing 35 mm. for the rope leaves 44 mm. for spreading the bars. The bars are 20 mm. in diameter and 57 mm. long (82 mm. for the hyperbar). The first and third bars are fixed and have impressed rope grooves, the other two and the hyperbar are slotted and do not have rope grooves.
The first and third bars are anodized orange and marked "SOB."
This is well-made and interesting rack, but I have to think that the designer did not understand something. When I saw this on eBay, I thought that the opening might have a carabiner gate, but it is not - the rod across the opening is bolted in place at both ends. I don't know how well a carabiner gate would work here. Flex might be an issue, but at least the idea is interesting. As for this rack, the bar is longer than necessary. It need not be any longer than the bar diameter; anything more adds to the total length of the rack without adding to the useful length available for spreading bars.
Placing the hyperbar in the upward fifth position is about the most useless place for it. Working with these pieces, I would move it to the second position, keeping the fixed bars in the first and third.
