I acquired this Wonder Bar from Michael Oatney in 2023.
The Wonder Bar is 186 mm. tall, 112 mm. wide, 19 mm. thick, and weighs 333 g.
The Wonder Bar is an oversized oval carabiner made from 3/4" (19 mm) aluminum rod.
The Wonder bar gate is stamped with "WONDER BAR," "PAT.PEND.," "1.07," and "X."
Delbert Province made the Wonder Bar, probably in the late 1960s or early 1970s. This one belonged to Bill Jasper, who gave it to Mike long ago.
The Wonder Bar is an oversized oval carabiner intended for Carabiner Wrap rappels. It is similar to the Pompier Hook, but smaller and much lighter. It does not bend the rope as much as a standard Carabiner Wrap does, but this results in less friction.
