Technical Details

I acquired my Auroch’s Horn from Bob Elron in 1980.

The Auroch’s Horn is cast from aluminum alloy. It is 127 mm. tall, 97 mm. wide, 50 mm. thick, and weighs 223 g. The rope hole is 69 mm. high and 39 mm. wide. The two attachment holes are 13.2 mm. in diameter.

"TCS" is stamped on one side of this device.

Comments

Bob Elron got this off of a Bulgarian caver at the 1980 International Congress of Speleology. The only identifying marks are the initials TCS, which might be the owner’s initials. I didn't have any further information until January 2021, when Bernard À Floreffe identified it as an Auroch’s Horn. Thank you Bernard!

As you can see, my Auroch’s Horn had been used extensively. I find it a bit too bulky to use regularly myself, and I'm not too confident about the metallurgy.
