Technical Details

I had Artyom Babin (Артём Бабин) order this Drop (Капля) from Orion-Alp (Орион-Альп) for me in 2021.

My Orion-Alp Drop is 69 mm. long, 100 mm. wide, 31 mm. high, and weighs 304 g.

The Drop consists of a spring-loaded pivoting steel lever and a fixed turned steel anvil mounted between two painted steel plates. One plate is stationary, while the other pivots on a bolted axle so that it may be opened to admit the rope. The anvil is bolted to the rear face plate. The anvil has two turned grooves, one for the rope and one to engage a notch in the swinging plate. Each plate has a 20 by 21 mm. attachment hole.

The pivoting side plate is etched with an up-pointing arrow labeled "ВВЕРХ" ("UP"), a book-with-an-"i" icon, "Орион-Альп," "оа 0402," "Max. 4KN" "Ø 9-12 мм," and "09.2021." The bolt heads are marked with "TM" and "10.9."

Comments

The drop is similar to the Camp Lift, Russian Versions A and B, and various Ural Alp ascenders, but I placed it here with the Rope Grabs because the Орион-Альп web site description describes a rope grab function and does not mention using the Drop as an ascender.

The name Drop (Капля) refers to its shape, which resembles a drop of water.
