Technical Details

I acquired this C.A.M.P. Wing from Tate Middour in 2025.

My C.A.M.P. Wing is 155 mm. long, 95 mm. wide, 49 mm. high, and weighs 342 g.

The C.A.M.P. Wing is a trolley designed for up to 13 mm. zip lines. The frame is milled. and anodized aluminum. Plastic guards are attached to the top left and right sides. A spring-loaded aluminum latch pivots on a pin at the base of the frame. The upper end of the latch has a hook that engages a notch in the frame. The latch lock is a single wire shaped to provide a thumb tab for releasing the latch. A 19-mm. wide, 14-mm. high eye at the base of the latch provides the main attachment point.

Two 35 mm. diameter, 16 mm. thick steel sheaves rotate on axles riveted between the front and rear plates. The sheaves have 13.5 mm. wide, 4.5 mm. deep U-shaped grooves on the rim.

The front plate is printed with "CAMP," "Wing," the UIAA logo, a book-with-an-"i" icon, "EN12278," "CE0123," "PATENTED," "Ø≤13mm," "15kN" above a filled down-pointing arrow, a ball-bearing icon, "3310," and "0120."

Comments

The C.A.M.P. Wing is solidly made. I don't run zip-line courses and the Wing has no special braking features, so I don't have much to say about it. For me, the most interesting part is the latching mechanism, which has no annoying (but sometimes desirable) provisions to interfere with the user removing it from the zip line.

For far more content, use a larger monitor and a full-width window.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
