Technical Details

I acquired my ISC Keeloc SmartSnap Belay Rescue Device Ring Key from Brian Bell in 2021.

My ISC Keeloc SmartSnap Belay Rescue Device Ring Key is 65 mm. long, 116 mm. wide, 8 mm. high, and weighs 130 g.

The Ring Key consists of an 8-shaped forging with a 25 mm. pin projecting from the top.

The front of the Ring Key is etched with "Smart Snap," "16/76328/039," and "MBS 25kN." It is stamped with "I|S|C."

Comments

Although it looks like some small figure eights, the ring key is not a descender. It’s sole purpose is to unlock one side of the ISC RP420 Keeloc SmartSnap Belay Device. The SmartSnap is designed for use on ropes courses where 100% attachment is required. The SmartSnap ideally allows the user to traverse all of the individual elements of a course without ever being able to detach from the safety line. It was presumably designed for people who cannot be trusted not to be stupid enough to unlock their safety. See the SmartSnap Belay Device page for more details.

The channel is etched with "I|S|C" and "241886180028."

Comments

The Wire Key is to be mounted on an adventure course cable. It is used is to lock one side of the ISC RP420 Keeloc SmartSnap Belay Device when that side is clipped around the cable.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
