Technical Details

Cam faceRaúl Macia Sanchez sent me this Fixe hauling pulley in 2023.

My Fixe is 178 mm. tall, 62 mm. wide, 46 mm. thick, and weighs 285 g.

The Fixe is a small pulley with an eccentric cam mounted on a suspended frame. The pulley side plates are made from 3.0 mm. aluminum sheet. They are bent inward at the top in a dog-leg until they nearly meet at the 1clip-in holes. These are 13.7 mm. wide and 15.7 mm. tall. The side plates can turn on the axle to open for rigging. The sheave is turned from aluminum alloy. It is 18.5 mm. thick and 50 mm. in diameter, with a semicircular rope groove with an inner diameter of 38 mm.

The cam is milled aluminum alloy. The cam radius increases from 19 to 37 mm. over an angle of 68°, giving a 29° cam angle. The cam has forty small pyramidal teeth arranged in ten rows of four. A push-pin passing through holes in the support straps can be used as a safety to prevent full cam opening, or as a stop to hold the cam fully open. There is a 13 mm. wide, 14.7 mm. tall carabiner hole on a frame tab below the cam.

The pulley plates are printed with "FIXE®" and the Fixe salamander logo.

Comments

The Fixe is derived from the Rock Exotica Wall Hauler and/or Petzl Wall Hauler. The cam teeth are more aggressive, but not excessively so. The carabiner hole below the cam adds some versatility that the others lack.

Warning:
The Fixe should never be used to support human loads.
