I acquired my first Pierre Allain cable ladder from the legendary Michel Sifre in 2009. I acquired two more (one new, one used) on eBay from Jeff Brotzge in 2010. I acquired a fourth in new condition from Bill Wiley (eBay) in 2022. Michael Oatney gave me another in 2023.
Pierre Allain cable ladders are 10 m. long with 32 aluminum rungs spaced 304 mm. apart. Each rung is 143 mm. long and 13.8 mm. in diameter with a 0.9 mm. wall thickness. The cable is 2.8 mm. stainless steel. The rungs are secured by a single internal crimp. This required drilling the rungs to allow access to the crimp. The eyes are double crimped with eye protectors and Brummel hooks.
There are no markings on these ladders.
The Pierre Allains are commercial cable ladders. The single crimp may be more economical and it eliminates the risk of placing top and bottom crimps too close to the rungs, but I never particularly liked the idea of putting large holes in the sides of the rungs. The cable is the thinnest of any ladder in my collection, but being stainless, it does not have a corrosion problem. I've put more miles on Pierre Allain ladders than on any other brand, and they always served me well.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
