↑ 032: Royal Robbins/Alpélit

- Concave adze, neutral clearance pick, narrow cruciform spike. These were the first aluminum handled ice axes made in France imported to the United States by Royal Robins. These were believed to have been made for Robbins by the French metals firm of Laprade R Desmaison, as some pieces have been found to be marked “R Desmaison” and Laprade axes of the period are strikingly similar in design and finish.
