I acquired my Cassin #217, Version A from Climb Max in 1999.
The Cassin #217, Version A is 94 mm. tall, 54 mm. wide, and 11 mm thick. Mine weighs 64 g.
One side is stamped with "CASSIN" inside an oval and "ITALY."
The Cassin #217 has two long slots that give less friction than standard "Sticht" plates do. Although I don't like this for rock climbing, on snow and ice I don't mind it as much since I'm usually working with two ropes. Like the Kong Gi–gi, the Cassin #217 really isn't intended for sport climbers and for everyday use, but it will serve guides well in certain situations such as belaying two clients. In fact, the Cassin web site places the two in different categories, namely "piastrina di recupero" (little plate for rescue) and "placchetta" (small plate) respectively.
The Cassin has shorter slots than the Kong Gi–gi, but it does not have the extra rib that the Kong Gi–gi has. In most applications, the two are fairly equivalent.

I acquired my Cassin #217, Version B from from Walkhigh Mountaineering in 2007.
The Cassin #217, Version A is 94 mm. tall, 54 mm. wide, and 11 mm thick. Mine weighs 64 g.
One side is etched with "CASSIN" inside an oval, "ITALY," and "2A."
Version B is essentially the same as Version A, except that it is anodized and the markings are etched rather than stamped. The soft anodizing provides some corrosion protection, but does little to enhance wear resistance.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
