Gregory Jones donated this used Logic to me in 2022.
Version A is is forged from aluminum alloy. Mine is 114 mm. tall, 57 mm. wide, 12 mm. thick, and weighs 85 g.
There are no markings on this version.
This appears to be an early version since it does not have any markings. Aside from that, it is identical to Version B and should be used the same way.

I acquired my Cassin Logic, Version B from Karst Sports in 1995.
Version B is forged from aluminum alloy. Mine is 114 mm. tall, 57 mm. wide, 12 mm. thick, and weighs 87 g.
One side of this Logic is stamped with the Cassin logo and "ITALY." The other side has a stamped illustration showing a climber, rope, belayer’s hand, and a down-pointing arrow.
The Cassin Logic is quite different from a slotted ("Sticht") plate or belay tube, so it is important to read the instructions. While the climber is climbing, the tag end of the rope is run over the top of the device to hold it out of the V slot. When the climber falls, the rope falls off the top of the device and wedges in the slot, arresting the fall.
Warning: The instructions state that the "Logic is not a figure 8 and should not be used as such." |
In other words, you will need to carry a separate rappel device. This is one reason that I seldom use my Logic.
If you like the Logic but need to be able to handle double
ropes, the Cassin Twin might
be what you are looking for.

I acquired my Cassin Logic, Version C from Mountainland Outdoor in 2007.
Version C is forged from aluminum alloy and then hard coated. Mine is 115 mm. tall, 56 mm. wide, 12 mm. thick, and weighs 91 g.
One side of this Logic is stamped with the Cassin logo and "ITALY." The other side has a stamped illustration showing a climber, rope, belayer’s hand, and a down-pointing arrow.
Although the Logic wears well without it, the hard coating will let Version C wear better than Version B.

Chris Christensen donated a Cassin Logic, Version C in 2009, and I acquired another from him in 2022.
Version D is forged from aluminum alloy and then color hard coated. Mine is 115 mm. tall, 56 mm. wide, 12 mm. thick, and weighs 89 g.
One side of this Logic is stamped with the Cassin logo and "ITALY." The other side has a stamped illustration showing a climber, rope, belayer’s hand, and a down-pointing arrow.
Except for the color anodizing, Version D is identical to Version C.

Hundreds of cell phone users complained and asked me to for a simpler, mobile friendly site. In particular, they wanted me to limit each page to a small number of pictures and minimize my use of text. This new site provides what they asked for.
