Chuuk, 2009

In January 2009 I went diving in Truk Lagoon. Conditions in the sheltered lagoon were milder than the open ocean around the Galapagos Islands the previous summer, but the dives were deeper, often approaching 40 meters (130 feet). For this reason, we dove Nitrox 28 instead of air. Once again, the conditions were not ideal for photography, especially if one was not the first diver on site. I did most of my dives solo, so I tended to keep a larger air reserve than the others. This usually lead to somewhat shorter dives on my part; however, I had the flexibility to control my own dives.
